Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Pandurang Kondbarao Pole has clarified that there have been no changes in SRO-43 regarding providing government jobs to the beneficiaries.

Pandurang Kundbarao Pole clarified that there was no change in SRO-43 as he said that it already has provisions of one-time compensation or government job to the eligible beneficiaries.

“It is up to the genuine beneficiaries of the SRO-43 whether they want to opt for one-time compensation or government job,” he said.

As per the SRO-43 of 1994 if anyone among the family members of the deceased civilian fulfils the eligibility criteria prescribed under the Rules for appointment into the government service or acquires such eligibility then they shall have the option either to choose the government service or the cash compensation.

Pole said given the one-time compensation Deputy Commissioners have been asked to work out the amount projected demand regarding one-time compensation and furnish it to his office “so that the same is taken up with the government for the release of funds,” he clarified.

In the region, the government in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir has framed compassionate appointment rules in the year 1994 and notified the same vide SRO-43. (TKW)
