Srinagar, July 22 (KDC): In a major counter-terror crackdown following the deadly terrorist attack in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday detained over 100 suspects during a massive security operation across central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
A police official told Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that the suspects were rounded up during intelligence-led operations and are being subjected to sustained questioning and verification. Simultaneously, police, assisted by other security agencies, carried out extensive raids at multiple locations across the district to identify terrorist associates, dismantle support networks and prevent any attempt to disturb peace.
Officials said the district-wide operation was launched as part of enhanced counter-terror measures in the aftermath of the Anantnag attack, with a focus on identifying terrorist facilitators, Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and other suspects linked to unlawful activities.
Security has been significantly tightened across Ganderbal, with additional deployments at sensitive locations, intensified vehicle checking, reinforced nakas, area domination patrols and heightened surveillance. Search operations and verification drives are continuing across the district.
Police said the operation forms part of an ongoing effort to deny terrorists and their support networks any operational space, adding that further action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation. (KDC)
