Srinagar, July 22 (KDC): In the wake of the terrorist attack in Anantnag that claimed the life of a police head constable, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday detained over 70 suspected Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and launched extensive raids across north Kashmir’s Sopore as part of intensified counter-terrorism measures.
Official sources told Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that more than 70 suspected OGWs have been taken into custody for sustained questioning and verification, while multiple raids and search operations are being conducted at various locations across the town and adjoining areas based on specific intelligence inputs.
The operation is aimed at dismantling the support network of terrorists and preventing any attempt to disturb peace in the region, officials said.
Security has been significantly strengthened across Sopore, with additional police and security personnel deployed at vulnerable locations. Vehicle checking has been intensified, while area domination patrols, frisking and surveillance have been stepped up to maintain heightened vigil.
Officials said the searches and verification drives are continuing, and further action will be taken based on the outcome of the ongoing investigation. (KDC)
