Srinagar, Nov 27, KDC: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case against Malik Tahir Gani, Director State Motor Garages, following allegations that he amassed assets grossly disproportionate to his known sources of income.
According to a statement, acting on specific information, the ACB conducted a secret verification into the allegations against Gani, son of Abdul Gani Malik, a resident of Sanat Nagar, Srinagar, and currently residing at Quarter No. 55-C, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. He is presently posted as Director, State Motor Garages, J&K.
According to the ACB, the verification established that Gani, during his postings as ARTO Anantnag, ARTO Pulwama and later as Director State Motor Garages, had accumulated massive assets in the form of plots, residential houses, shops, shopping complexes, bank deposits and other properties, the agency said in a statement to news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC), adding that many of these assets were found registered in his name as well as in the names of family members and relatives. The value of the properties was assessed to be highly disproportionate to his lawful income.
On the basis of the findings, the Bureau concluded that a prima facie case of criminal misconduct under Section 13(1)(b) read with 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 stood established. Consequently, FIR No. 11/2025 was registered at Police Station ACB Central.
During investigation, the agency obtained search warrants from the court of the Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Jammu, and subsequently carried out coordinated raids at four locations. These included Gani’s residential houses at Sanat Nagar and Hyderpora in Srinagar, his residential quarter at Gandhi Nagar in Jammu, and his official premises at New Plot, Jammu.
The ACB said incriminating documents and material were recovered during the searches and have been seized for further examination.
Further investigation in the case is underway, the agency added. (KDC)
