Srinagar, Oct 24, KDC: The Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) is poised to secure a clean sweep in the ongoing Rajya Sabha elections, with early voting trends indicating strong support for the party across the Assembly.
By afternoon, over 74 MLAs had cast their votes. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was the first to cast his vote, underscoring the party’s confidence in securing all four seats.
While the National Conference is expected to comfortably win the first three seats, the real contest remains for the fourth seat, where the BJP and JKNC are evenly matched with 28 votes each. The BJP’s chances have been diminished after Congress, PDP, and independent MLAs extended support to the JKNC.
Political analysts say that unless there is cross-voting among MLAs from the ruling alliance, the BJP is unlikely to win a seat, making a clean sweep by the JKNC a distinct possibility.
Voting will continue until 4:00 PM, with counting scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM, keeping political watchers on edge for the final outcome. (KDC)
