Bandipora, July 19: A cloudburst struck the Dawar area of Gurez in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Sunday morning, damaging a cowshed, washing away a portion of a local link road and disrupting movement in the area, officials said.
According to officials, the cloudburst caused a sudden rise in the water level of a local nallah, resulting in damage to public infrastructure and leaving several residents stranded on either side of the affected road.
A cowshed sustained significant damage in the incident, with two cows and household belongings remaining trapped inside, they said.
Soon after the incident, personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Police reached the spot to assess the situation, while the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) launched restoration work to clear debris and restore road connectivity.
A local resident said the cloudburst severely damaged the link road connecting Dawar with Mousum, disrupting movement and affecting local residents.
Officials said no loss of life or injuries were reported in the incident. Restoration work is underway, and authorities are monitoring the situation closely. Residents have been advised to stay away from overflowing nallahs and vulnerable areas and to follow official advisories until weather conditions improve.
