Srinagar, Nov 11: In the aftermath of arms and ammunition being recovered from a doctor’s locker at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, authorities have directed all staff and students at GMC Srinagar and SMHS Hospital to identify and label their personal lockers by November 14.
A circular issued by the Administrator, Associated Hospitals Srinagar, instructed faculty members, heads of departments, paramedical staff, and students to mark their lockers with their names, designations, and codes.
After the deadline, an inspection team comprising the Medical Superintendent of SMHS Hospital, RMOs, and estate officials will remove surplus or unclaimed lockers occupying hospital and college corridors. “No employee will be allowed to claim any locker not identified within the specified period,” the circular stated.
Additionally, section officers and the accounts section have been directed not to issue any Last Pay Certificate (LPC), No Objection Certificate (NOC), or service book upon transfer until the individual’s locker has been officially handed over.
The GMC Anantnag administration has issued similar instructions, directing heads of departments to identify all lockers and almirahs and report any unclaimed ones to the authorities.
The directive follows the November 6 arrest of Dr. Adil Ahmed from Anantnag, from whose locker arms and ammunition were recovered. He was handed over to Jammu and Kashmir Police for allegedly putting up posters supporting the banned outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed in Srinagar. (KDC)
