Srinagar, Sep 27, KDC: The Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh has constituted Advisory Boards under three key preventive detention and regulatory laws, namely the Public Safety Act (PSA), the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and the Prevention of Black Marketing and Maintenance of Supplies of Essential Commodities Act.
According to a notification (S.O. 112) issued by the Home Department on September 25, 2025, with the approval of the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, the Advisory Boards have been formally set up.
The order as per Kashmir Dot Com appoints Justice M.K. Hanjura (Retd.), former Judge of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, as Chairperson of the Boards. Principal District & Sessions Judge Leh, Manoj Parihar, and Principal District & Sessions Judge Kargil, Spalzes Angmo, have been appointed as Members.
The terms and conditions governing the functioning of the Chairperson and Members will be issued separately, the notification added.
This move comes in the backdrop of heightened law and order concerns in Ladakh, following the recent unrest in Leh town. The newly constituted Advisory Boards will provide statutory oversight on detention and preventive measures taken under the PSA and related laws. (KDC)
