Srinagar, Sept 18, KDC: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday is learnt to have expressed displeasure with tourism stakeholders at Gulmarg for not backing him when he was unfairly targeted by the opposition over tourism-related issues.
If sources are to be believed, Omar as per Kashmir Dot Com told a closed-door gathering at the Gulmarg Convocation Centre that he had sought advice on the Paris tour and was conveyed that Paris has traditionally been an important market for J&K’s tourism promotion. However, he reportedly rued that none of the stakeholders spoke in his favour when the opposition mounted criticism.
Sources said Omar maintained that he had taken several initiatives to promote tourism, including visits outside J&K and even cycling events in Pahalgam, but stakeholders did not stand by him during political attacks.
According to the same sources, Omar also appeared upset over what he described as the “selective leakage” of official orders, remarking that he signed many in a day but only certain ones were exposed to media and opposition circles.
Earlier, his Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani also addressed the gathering and, as per sources, expressed concern that the government was upset with tourism stakeholders for their silence on key issues.
Meanwhile, sources added that both Omar Abdullah and Nasir Aslam Wani are now likely to skip the Paris tourism event scheduled next week. (KDC)
