SRINAGAR: Residents of Jammu and Kashmir are grappling with various challenges, especially after the abrogation of Article 370. One of the most pressing issues is the significant backlog of passport applications, which has hindered many from traveling for religious purposes, such as Umrah and Haj, as well as for employment opportunities, PDP leader Zuhaib Mir said on Sunday.
Mir emphasized the need to expedite the processing of pending passport applications, stating, “Our youth and families deserve the opportunity to pursue their spiritual journeys and seek better livelihoods without unnecessary delays and bureaucratic hurdles.”
Zuhaib highlighted the importance of compassion and understanding in these times, urging the need to foster an environment of healing and hope in the region.
Mir believes that by speeding up the passport process, trust in institutions can be restored, demonstrating that the voices of Jammu and Kashmir residents matter.
He called on Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to prioritize these applications and provide necessary support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, stating, “Together, let’s pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future, he added. (KDC)
