Srinagar, Dec 13, KDC: A Special Police Officer (SPO) attached with a local BJP activist along with an ‘Associate’ has fled with two weapons in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, official sources said on Monday.
An official told Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that during the intervening night of December 12-13 an SPO identified as Saqib Ahmad Tantry son of Sanaullah Tantry of Bohipora, deployed as PSO with BJP activist Abdul Rashid Zargar fled with two weapons. Saqib’s “associate” Arif Ahmad son of Bashir Ahmad Mir, resident of Bohipora Kupwara, is also missing, he said.
“Efforts are underway to trace out the duo. “Saqib Ahmad Tantry had come to his house and left. His family told us that they are also searching for him,” the official said.
Originally a resident of Lolab, Abdul Rashid Zargar is presently being kept along with other protected persons in PWD building at Salkoot and it is here where the duo has gone missing, the officer said adding that an alert has been sounded and investigations are underway. (KDC)
