Police recover minor girl 12 hours after kidnapping in Budgam

Jammu and Kashmir Police in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district recovered a kidnapped minor girl and arrested the alleged kidnapper within 12 hours.

A police spokesperson in a statement issued here said that Police Station Magam received a written complaint from Muhammad Ayoub Hajam son of Ghulam Hussain Hajam resident of Hagerpora that his minor daughter (name withheld) was kidnapped by one Rafeeq Ahmed Malla son of Fayaz Ahmed Malla alias Kuka resident of Kongamdara pattan.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR number number 218/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Magam and investigation initiated.

During investigation, a special team headed by SHO Magam Inspector Gowhar Ali while acting on the specific leads raided various places for recovery of the girl, read the communique.

After strenuous efforts, the police team recovered the kidnapped girl from Archandrahama area of Magam and also arrested the accused kidnapper.

He has been shifted to Police Station Magam where he remains in custody.

After fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, the girl was handed over to her legal heirs. Investigation into the matter is in progress, the statement concluded.
