Bandipora, June 10, KDC : Authorities in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district bans swimming in Nallah Madhumati in order to safeguard the precious lives of people who go there for bathing , following high flow of water in Nallah.

An order issued by the Bandipora administration in this regard and a copy of which lies with news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) read “Whereas, the flow in Nallah Madhumati increases tremendously in summers and few people especially children venture out for swimming and bathing in the said Nallah thereby putting their lives to avoidable risk. This trend has resulted in loss of lives by drowning in the past”

It said , In view of the above, and as a precautionary measure to safeguard the precious lives, it is hereby ordered that there shall be complete ban on swimming/bathing in Nallah Madhumatti, with immediate effect, till further orders.

, Tehsildar (Executive Magistrate 1st Class), Bandipora, SHO Bandipora, Assistant Executive Engineer, I&FC, Bandipora, and Assistant Director, Fisheries, Bandipora, shall ensure strict vigil alongside the banks of the Nallah Madhumatti and implementation of this order in letter and spirit, it added.
