Srinagar, Jan 22, KDC: ANC Vice President Muzaffar Shah on Friday said that the Director Food and Supplies should come clean and state the correct position in front of the people of Srinagar City whether they are supposed to get five kg rice per person or 3.5 kg’s per person.
In a statement to news agency KDC he said that |”Why are the residents of Srinagar city being informed publicly of the Government’s decision to provide rice at 5kg’s per person where as the DC food has instructed the Store keepers and the ST Shop owners to provide only 3 .5 kg’s rice per person against their ration card? This was stated by ANC Sr.VP Mr. Muzzafar Shah in a press release today after a delegation of people from downtown and ST Owners met him at ANC party headquarters today.”
“The ANC Sr.Vice President has appealed to the LG Manoj Sinha that he should intervene in this very sensitive and serious issue confronting the people of Srinagar city during the harsh winter conditions with 1.5 lakh people without Addhar Card in Srinagar city alone, a prerequisite for distribution of Rice.”
“The policy of the current director Food and Supplies of announcing 5kg per person through media and instructions to store keepers and ST shops to only issue 2 .5kg’s per person can lead to a major law and order situation throughout Srinagar city endangering the lives and safety of hundreds of concerned Store keepers and ST shop owners. Mr.Shah further stated that we should not forget that these very store keepers and the ST shop owners played a heroic role during the turmoil of 2010, the unprecedented floods of 2014 when they provided food supplies to the residents of Srinagar City under most abnormal conditions risking their lives and ensuring food Supplies to the residents of Srinagar. The same heroic deeds were repeated by these people during the Covid Pandemic period by ensuring home delivery of rice and other essentials to the people in large, reads the statement”
ANC Sr. VP has demanded removal of such officials from such sensitive and key positions whose actions could lead to major unrest in Srinagar, the statement added. (KDC)
