Militants have intensified infiltration attempts along the border and at least 250 to 300 militants are waiting on the other side of the Line of Control to cross over into Kashmir, the Army has said.
With winter around the corner, the Indian Army has said close to 250-300 militants are waiting at their launchpads across the Line of Control.
Army said security was tightened after input that more than 250 militants, waiting at launchpads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, are looking to infiltrate into the Kashmir Valley.
“There are 250-300 militants ready in PoK launchpads who are waiting to infiltrate. The weather is still feasible but I want to assure you that they won’t be able to infiltrate,” said HS Sahi, GOC, Counter Insurgency Force (CIF) Kilo.
Although many infiltration attempts were foiled this year, defence experts say in the next two weeks, there may be a rise infiltration bids and ceasefire violations.
“Around 30 militants have managed to infiltrate this year while the number was 130 last year. We have managed to bring down this number to a large extent. The borders are completely sealed by security forces,” the officer added.
According to sources, the terror outfits may be organizing to try and launch attacks in the valley. The security forces, however, say they are geared up to foil such attempts already.
