Bandipora, July 11: Cricket is one of the most widely played and watched sports in India. In pursuit of flourshing the game of cricket in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, some reputed persons have taken an initiative under the name of BCI (Bandipora Cricket Initiative) for highlighting the alternatives and more sustainable solutions for providing the platform and benefit to more than a thousand of cricketers in the district at national or state level.

According to a handout, members of the BCI and Bandipora Cricket teams held a meeting and discussed the upcoming strategic to bring change in Cricket events and also elected Padma Shri awardee Faisal Ali as President of ‘Bandipora Cricket Initiative’.

Advocate Bilal Ahmed Bhat was elected as General Secretary, Shabir Ahmad Khan as Vice President, Advocate Mudasir Ahmad and Javid Ali Akhoon as Joint Secretaries, Khurshid Ahmed Khan as Treasurer, Jamsheed Ahmad as Technical Manager, Amir Hassan Rather as Spokesperson, Mushtaq ahmad Mir as a Convener and some were elected as executives by the core members of BCI.

On this occasion, several players expressed their views regarding the cricket events and some changes in the pattern of prevailing setup of district Cricket, it said.

it fuether said that during the meeting Padma Shri Faisal Ali Dar was invited by the clubs and the players discussed the issues related to changes in cricket events in the district.

Meanwhile, Faisal Ali Dar Padma awardee assured the youth to bring a change in cricket affairs.

Dar said, Youth of Kashmir need to choose favorite sport and keep himself away from drugs and other social evils.

The body expressed their faith in sub committee of Jammu Kashmir Cricket Association and other concerned departments of UT and hoped that they will help to strength the district cricket body of Bandipora, the statement added. (KDC)
