Srinagar, July 01, KDC: An Assistant Executive engineer (AEE) was allegedly assaulted by a junior engineer (JE) of Power development department (PDD) in Kashmir capital Srinagar, sources said on Friday.
They told news agency Kashmir Dot Com that on 30th June around 2:00 pm a junior engineer identified as Manzoor Ahmad posted in Sopore allegedly assaulted Mohammad Yousuf an Assistant Executive engineer of sub-11nd STD-II Srinagar at divisional office here.
In a letter to Managing Director Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited, a copy of which is lying with KDC, the senior officer alleged “Manzoor Ahmad (JE) previously posted in my sub division approached with some indent for adjustment of material. I was enquiring about the contents of the indent during which he (JE) got furious and started using abusive and unparliamentary language against me and to my surprise he resorted to physical assault on me.”
The junior engineer slapped me on my face and threw punches and blows heavily on my head which caused a lot of pain in my head and face, Yousuf alleged adding that “The assault was having such an impact on my head and entire body that I will have to seek a medical consultation.”
Yousuf further said “JE could have gone ahead in his intention had not the technical staff of the division stopped him and saved me.”
AEE has requested the Managing Director of Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited to initiate disciplinary action against the JE warranted under rules so that no such incident happens in future as his action has led to office indiscipline and damage to office decorum.
When contacted, the AEE of PDD refused to comment on the matter and said that it is a departmental matter.(KDC)
