Shopian, May 9 KDC: An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in Shirmal area of Zainapora hamlet in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Monday morning, officials said.
An official told news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
He said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which retaliated triggering an encounter.
As per sources, one to two militants are believed to be hiding in the area. (KDC)
