Dhaka University Postpones Exam: J&K Students Association Expresses Gratitude to External Affairs Minister, CS J&K

Welcomes postponement of Medical exams, Says a great relief for students and their parents

Srinagar, May 10, KDC: J&K Students Association today expressed gratitude to External Affairs Minister Dr S.Jaishankar and J&K Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam for their personal intervention and efforts in resolving the issue of Kashmiri Medical students studying in Bangladesh.

In a Statement issued to News Agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) Spokesperson of Association Nasir Khuehami said that association appreciated prompt and quick response from External Affairs Ministry and J&K Chief Secretary, adding that they have paid its valuable attention towards the Kashmiri students. He said that Kashmiri students will have a sigh of relief in these testing times. He said the Association took the matter with External Affairs Ministry and UT Govt in this regard. The chief secretary personally intervened in it and resolved the matter at the earliest possible time, he said.

He said, we welcome the decision of Bangladesh Govt and express gratitude to Chief Secretary and Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary for considering students’ demand as first priority and taking this to Bangladesh Foreign Affairs Ministry. He said that the decision is totally in favour of students. In the tough times, this decision is a welcome and appreciable step. This will free students from anxiety depression and rejoice parents, he added.

Khuehami added that the MBBS student’s career was at stake as their exam was on cards. However, with the intervention of officials back at home they sorted the issue and the same exam was postponed which brought a sigh of relief and the fear of travelling amid the deadly 2nd wave of covid19. With postponement of the exam, the students pursuing courses in Bangladesh will sit idly by when the virus has put everything to a standstill.

Younus Rashid, Additional Spokesperson of Association welcomed the Bangladesh Govt. decision to postpone the Medical exams amid the COVID-19 pandemic and called it a “great relief” for hundreds of students and their parents. He said that students studying in Bangladesh had a sigh of relief after their exams were postponed citing the unprecedented spike in coronavirus cases in the country.

Rashid said, Kashmiri students pursuing MBBS in Bangladesh were in distress amid the major spike in the deadly virus. Amid restrictions in the country fearing of the contract of the virus, students were worried. Rashid said that the students had come home and were asked to return Bangladesh for exams which were scheduled from 30th May. We had demanded authorities either to facilitate students or postpone exams and finally this was made possible, he added. (KDC)
