Srinagar, Apr 24, KDC: J&K Students Association today urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to Postpone all university exams in view of the second wave Of Corona-Virus.

In a statement to News Agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) Spokesperson of Association Nasir Khuehami urged the Governor Administration and University authorities to postpone the examinations until the intensity of the second wave comes down. He said that all the students may not be available to appear for examinations as many of them were either not in the campus or won’t be able to come, since parents are not allowing their wards, because of worsening COVID situation.

He said that Students are in mental depression, anxiety, stress, and their mental anguish is hard to explain. He said that the students will have to travel on crowded vehicles to reach their respective Universities. The student community has been most affected by the Covid-19. Most of the students rely on public transport to reach the Universities which poses threat of infection to their families too, he added.

He also alleged that many Universities are not even following Covid-19 protocols while calling them to campus for semester exams, thus putting their lives, and that of their families, at risk. There is neither proper screening nor sanitisation in any university. Even when there were positive cases, no sanitisation is being done anywhere. The varsities don’t seem to value the health and well being of students.

Citing the second wave of Covid cases, General Secretary of Association Danish yousuf stated that holding the examination amidst the pandemic would increase the spread of the virus. He said all university exams in Jammu and Kashmir should be postponed in view of the rapid spread of infection due to the second wave of COVID-19 in the country and in the UT. He requested LG Manoj Sinha and VCs to move all university exams to online or postpone them. (KDC)
