Srinagar, Apr 15, KDC: International Forum for Justice Human Rights JK, lashed to the “Hope Classes”, a Srinagar based coaching centre after a video of one of its faculty members went viral in which he was seen mercilessly thrashing a student.
In a statement to News Agency KDC, the chairman of the forum, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo also trashed the statement of Coaching Centers Association of Kashmir (CCAK) in which it said that it has constituted a committee to look into the matter and recommend measures so that such incidents do not happen in future.
Untoo said that the forming a committee will not yield any results. He further said that CCAK’s statement that social media users not to get swayed with the video without full knowledge and not read into it too much, is very unfortunate.
He said that there have been repeated complaints against Hope Classes in the past and the coaching centre never acted to rectify its mistake.
Untoo said that coaching centers need to be made accountable so that such incidents do not occur in future.
Pertinently, Untoo said that he has filed a Public Interest Litigation in the court asking the state to make the coaching centers accountable.
He said these coaching centers do not respect the basic laws of humanity like “right to education to everyone” and never accommodated the below poverty line students in their centers.
Untoo said that the Lt Guv boasts about the new education policy and it appears that this is the new education policy.
He said that the coaching centers have also turned into the hub of covid-19 as the SOPs go for a toss. He said that recently Mayor SMC went to check with the coaching centers and he did not follow it up.
Untoo said that the licenses of all the coaching centers not following the SOPs should be immediately cancelled and also of those where teachers thrash students like in the recently viral video. (KDC)
