Srinagar, Apr 06, KDC: The Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Tuesday filed a complaint with city police seeking verification into the alleged threats which he has allegedly received on behalf of a local coaching institute Kashmir Institute of excellence (KIE) located in Parraypora area of Srinagar. The alleged threats were received by the Mayor after KIE hoardings were removed by SMC.
Mayor of SMC, Junaid Matto told News Agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that he has filed a complaint seeking police verification into alleged threats he has received after SMC removed the illegal and unauthorized advertising hoardings of KIE at Parraypora.
Matto said, “A lot of these threats allegedly made on the behalf of KIE contain violent narratives,” adding that he has approached police in this regard seeking verification of these threats.
He said that threats won’t stop them from discharging their professional duties, adding that SMC will continue to remove unauthorized hoardings of the institutions functioning with an utter complete disregard to law and safety of students.
He added that SMC will also pursue the matter legally by seeking registration details viz building usage norms, relevant NOCs from all these coaching institutions and hostels functioning in the Srinagar city.
Meanwhile, Owner of KIE, Lateef Masoodi said,”If SMC Mayor has received any threat call from our numbers we are ready to accept anything as per the law.”
He said that if their management has indulged in any sort of unlawful act they are ready to face the music of law. (KDC)
