14390 voters to exercise their franchise in Phase-III tomorrow, 96 candidates in fray

Bandipora, Dec 03, KDC: Ahead of the Phase-III of District Development Council (DDC) elections and Panchayat by-elections, 42 designated polling parties along with election/poll material were today dispatched to the Polling stations set up in Bankoot block.

The distribution of Poll material among the Polling Parties along with their departure from the Distribution Centre was done amid tight security and in observance of covid-19 protocol under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad.         

Under this phase, polling will be held for one DDC seat of Bankoot and for the Panch and Sarpanch vacancies in this block and Bandipora (partly) on 4th December, 2020. 

Meanwhile 96 candidates shall try their luck on Friday in Phase-III of DDC and Panchayat by-elections in Bankoot block of Bandipora district.

According to District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) 16 candidates are in fray for one Bankoot constituency of District Development Council while 6 candidates are contesting on 3 Sarpanch seats and 74 candidates are fighting for 31 Panch seats. 32 Panchs were elected unopposed in Phase in Bankoot block.

14390 voters will exercise their franchise including 7626 males and 6764 female voters. There are 42 polling stations in the block. Adequate arrangements have been made possible by the district administration to ensure smooth conducts of polls. (KDC)
