Srinagar, Mar 27, KDC: A militant has been killed in an ongoing gunfight which broke out between Militants and Security forces in Wangam village of Shopian in South Kashmir, officials said.
An official told that a joint team of Police, army’s 34 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated triggering an encounter.
A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of fire between forces and militants adding that one un-identified militant has been killed in this encounter so far.
He said the searches are on as more militants are believed to be trapped. (KDC)
