Srinagar, Mar 13, KDC: A criminal complaint was filed against former UP Shia Waqf Board Chairman, Waseem Rizvi, in Srinagar on Saturday for promoting enmity between religious groups for seeking removal of the verses from Quran that he says promote ‘violence.’

According to news agency Kashmir Dot Com- (KDC) the complaint was filed in district court Srinagar by Ahsan Untoo, chairman of the International Forum for Justice and Human Rights, under sections 153 A and 295 A of Indian Penal Code. In the complaint, Untoo sought his arrest and asked the Court to award him stringent punishment for promoting religious enmity and insulting Muslims.

In the complaint, Untoo submitted that Rizvi was promoting religious tensions by hurting the sentiments of Muslims. He said that Quran has been revealed on Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and it was ”source of guidance and peace” for the world.

Untoo told News Agency KDC that the verses in Quran can’t be changed as it was the final word of Allah. ” The Quran has not changed since it was revealed to mankind. There were several religious books which have been altered but the word of Quran is final and it promotes peace and better life,” he said.

Rizvi earlier sought removal of verses from Quran in a petition filed before the Supreme Court in which he has contended that the Muslim religious book “promotes violence.” He has sought the deletion of 26 verses of the holy Quran. (KDC)
