Srinagar, Mar 08, KDC: The illegal construction of structures in the summer capital doesn’t seem to be stopping in near future as various structures have come up despite the appointment of a new commissioner.
According to news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) dozens of wards in both downtown and uptown areas of the city have witnessed a surge in the construction of illegal structures.
The areas in which these illegal structures have come up include Ali Jan Road, 90 feet road, Jawahar Nagar, Rajbagh, Safakadal, Lal Bazar Chanapora and many other localities, documental proof including photographs of the illegal constructions lie with KDC.
The officials are in a deep slumber and are yet to take notice of these illegally built structures. These structures have put the entire city of Srinagar into mess.
According to sources there is a large scale corruption in the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) and money is the only thing that matters for the officials and hence they keep on ignoring the illegality happening in the city.
The SMC has been in headlines in the past also for incompetence, large scale bungling, nepotism and inefficiency of officials. And yet again no one seems to abide by the law here.
Despite the appointment of a new commissioner the SMC is yet to witness the change on the ground and the illegal constructions are going in full glare.
Locals have appealed the new commissioner to intervene in the matter, look into the illegal constructions and save the city from mess. (KDC)
