9 young cricketers from Shopian languishing in Pulwama Jail under UAPA: Ahsan Untoo
Srinagar, Feb 07: International Forum for Justice and Human Rights chairman Mohammad Ahsan Untoo in a statement issued for the press has alleged that hundreds of first information reports (FIR´s)have been registered in various district in Jammu and Kashmir in different police stations under the new draconian law ULAP which allows the authorities to arrest any person without any substantial proof and without the right to bail for at least six months because the international condemnation against the inhuman public safety act was growing so the authorities have created a new window to continue without any scrutiny.
He alleged that “Various districts are Srinagar, Ganderbal,, Bandipora, Budgam, Baramulla, kupwara, Pulawama, Islamabad,Kulgam, and Shopain.”
“Nine young cricket players from South Kashmir’s Nazneenpora village in Shopian district are behind bars for the last five months and the bizarre allegation against them is that they played a cricket match in memory of one slain militant (Syed Rubaan) . One among the arrested persons booked by this law is a scholar Syed Tajamul Imran, who is the brother of slain militant commander Syed Rubaan.
Untoo said in his statement that “They have not been produced in any court of law and authorities are denying them their fundamental right to get relief from court. The arbitrary arrest under this new draconian law is as lethal and inhuman as was PSA and in some cases more deadly than that. The authorities are enforcing black laws to create a fear among the masses so that they will be forced to submission .These methods should be taken care of by International Human Rights groups and the United Nation Human Rights Council and for this IFJHRJK will approach them with documentary evidence how these black laws are being misused, reads the statement.
