The case was registered under Sections 319 and 336(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following directions from the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Pulwama.
According to officials, CJM Muzamil Ahmad Wani passed the order on Friday after considering a complaint filed by Mohammad Yousuf Thoker and his son, Tariq Ahmad, residents of Frastabal, Pampore.
The complainants alleged that Haroon Rashid Bandh, a resident of Kachachkoot, Awantipora, impersonated the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Pulwama and obtained money from them by allegedly misusing the purported official position.
They said that a portion of Thoker’s land at Gudoora in Pulwama had been acquired for the widening of National Highway-444, for which compensation was payable.
The complainants further alleged that around ₹28 lakh was obtained from them in connection with the land compensation and a property transaction.
After examining the complaint and supporting material, the court observed that the allegations prima facie disclosed cognisable offences requiring investigation. It accordingly directed the Station House Officer (SHO) concerned to proceed in accordance with the law. (KDC)
