Srinagar, Aug 7, KDC: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has allegedly posted a retired Power Development Department (PDD) officer as In-charge Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) in a recent transfer and placement order, raising questions over the department’s personnel record management.

Government Order No. 176-JK(PDD) of 2026, dated August 4, 2026, issued by the Power Development Department, places several Assistant Engineers/In-charge Assistant Engineers as In-charge Assistant Executive Engineers and orders their subsequent postings.

The order lists Bilal Ahmad Mir at Serial No. 6 and posts him as I/C Assistant Executive Engineer, Sub Division Beerwah, Electric Division Budgam, against an available vacancy.

However, sources told Kashmir Dot Com that Bilal Ahmad Mir had retired from government service in November 2025, nearly nine months before the issuance of the order.

Sources attributed the apparent error to the non-updation of service records at the office of the Managing Director, resulting in the retired officer being shown as a serving employee and included in the placement list.

The incident has raised concerns over the accuracy of personnel records and the verification process followed before issuing official government orders, especially those involving promotions and postings.

Officials in the department were yet to issue any clarification or confirm whether the order would be withdrawn or suitably amended. Efforts to obtain an official response from the department did not elicit any immediate comment. (KDC)
