Pulwama, Jul 30: Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Pulwama, Waheed Ur Rehman Para, today expressed his sincere gratitude to the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir and Commissioner Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department (H&UDD), Ms. Mandeep Kaur, for according Administrative Approval to the much-awaited Water Supply Scheme for Pulwama Town.

Describing the project as a major milestone in addressing one of Pulwama’s most pressing civic issues, the MLA said that ensuring a reliable supply of safe drinking water has remained one of his foremost priorities since assuming office.

Waheed Para said that for the past two years, he has consistently pursued the matter with the government and concerned departments through sustained follow-ups to secure approval for a long-term, high-capacity water infrastructure project capable of meeting the growing needs of Pulwama town.

Under Government Order No. 61-JK (HUD) of 2026, Administrative Approval has been granted for the project at an estimated cost of ₹18.96 crore (₹1,896.31 lakh) under the Urban Development Sector (DULBK) Capex Budget. The project is expected to significantly improve drinking water supply and provide lasting relief from the persistent water scarcity faced by residents.
