Srinagar, Jul 30, KDC: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat has accorded approval for the attachment of landed properties belonging to five terrorists from Reasi district who, according to police, had exfiltrated to Pakistan and are presently involved in reviving terror activities from across the border.
According to an order issued from Police Headquarters, J&K, a copy of which is in the possession of news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC), the properties have been ordered to be attached under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, in connection with FIR No. 70/2024 registered at Police Station Mahore.
The five terrorists whose properties have been identified for attachment are Alaf Din, son of Mir Baz alias Mir Baj, resident of Shajroo; Ghulam Mohd alias Gamma, son of Mohd Yousuf, resident of Shajroo; Mohd Ashraf, son of Abdul Karim, resident of Chakrass (Mulbiss); Shabir Ahmad, son of Mohd Yousuf, resident of Chakrass (Jamaslan); and Bihar Din, son of Abdul Sattar Chopan, resident of Sildhar.
The case originated after Police Station Mahore received information on November 29, 2024 regarding around 30 persons from the jurisdictions of Mahore and Chassana police stations who had allegedly gone missing between 1991 and 2003 and exfiltrated to Pakistan for arms and ammunition training.
Police alleged that these individuals were presently working for Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) from Pakistan and were involved in supplying arms, ammunition and money to promote terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, besides instigating and radicalising youth to join terror activities.
Following the information, FIR No. 70/2024 was registered at Police Station Mahore under Sections 61(2), 148 and 149 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 2 and 3 of the Enemy Agents Ordinance and Sections 13, 18, 20 and 38 of the UAPA, and an investigation was initiated.
During the investigation, police said witness statements and other evidence revealed that the five accused had also exfiltrated to Pakistan years ago to undergo arms and ammunition training and were currently actively involved in efforts to revive terror activities in the area from across the border.
Investigators further found that the five were allegedly attempting to sell landed properties registered in their names and that the proceeds from such sales were intended to be used for furtherance of terrorist activities.
According to the order, Alaf Din has seven kanals of land registered in his name in Shajroo, while Ghulam Mohd alias Gamma has 10 kanals and 11 marlas of land.
Mohd Ashraf has 17 marlas of land, while Shabir Ahmad has seven kanals and three marlas. Bihar Din has eight kanals and one marla of landed property, according to the details contained in the order.
Police said the properties fall within the ambit of “proceeds of terrorism” under Section 2(g) of the UAPA and are liable for attachment under Section 25 of the Act.
“Now, therefore, in exercise of powers conferred by Section 25 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967, prior approval is accorded for attachment of above-mentioned land,” the order issued by DGP Nalin Prabhat reads. (KDC)
