New Delhi, Apr 30, KDC: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said Operation Sindoor was halted on India’s own terms and not due to any weakening of military capability, asserting that the armed forces were fully prepared even for a prolonged battle if the need had arisen.
Addressing the ANI National Security Summit in New Delhi, Singh according to news agency Kashmir Dot Com, said “I want to make it clear once again here that we did not stop that operation because our capacity had diminished. We halted it on our own volition, on our own terms. If the need had arisen, we were fully prepared even for a prolonged battle. Our surge capacity—that is, the strength to expand capacity in times of sudden need—was not only present with us, but still is, and is in even better shape than before.”
Singh said India’s surge capacity, the ability to rapidly scale up strength during emergencies remained intact and had become stronger than before. He said the operation also showcased seamless coordination among the Army, Navy and Air Force under a unified strategy, reflecting India’s emergence as a joint, integrated and globally capable military power.
The Defence Minister said no distinction would be made between terrorists and those sponsoring them, calling it the clear policy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said this approach had reshaped India’s posture in changing global circumstances.
Highlighting defence preparedness, Singh said India’s military-industrial complex had demonstrated its readiness not only for peacetime requirements but also for rapid wartime supplies whenever needed.
Targeting Pakistan over terrorism, Singh said while India was recognised worldwide for Information Technology, Pakistan had become known for what he termed “International Terrorism.”
Calling terrorism a multidimensional threat, he said it must be tackled simultaneously at the operational, ideological and political levels. Singh described terrorism as a blot on humanity and said the fight against it was not merely about security but about protecting the fundamental values of mankind.
