NEW DELHI , Apr 27 : Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will lead a high-level Indian delegation to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers’ Meeting scheduled to be held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on April 28, 2026, the Ministry of Defence said on Monday.
The meeting will bring together defence ministers of SCO member states to deliberate on key regional and global security challenges, including issues related to international peace, counter-terrorism and defence cooperation.
According to the ministry, this year’s meeting assumes significance amid the ongoing geopolitical turbulence, particularly due to the evolving situation in West Asia. Member countries are expected to exchange views on mitigating the impact of the conflict on regional stability.
During the discussions, Rajnath Singh is expected to reiterate India’s commitment to global peace and security, while underlining New Delhi’s firm stance of zero tolerance towards terrorism and extremism. He is also likely to emphasise the need for enhanced cooperation among SCO member states to address emerging security threats.
