Anantnag, Apr 22: Mosques across district Anantnag have extended support to the ongoing efforts of police in tackling drug abuse and illegal narcotic cultivation.
During congregational gatherings and through public announcements, Imams and mosque committees urged people to refrain from involvement in drug-related activities and illegal cultivation of substances such as cannabis and opium poppy.
Religious leaders highlighted the social, moral and legal consequences of drug abuse, and called on families and community members to remain vigilant and report any such activities to authorities.
They also stressed collective responsibility in protecting youth and maintaining the social fabric of the district.
Police have appreciated the role of religious institutions, describing it as an example of cooperation between the public and law enforcement in addressing the issue.
Officials said such coordinated efforts are expected to support ongoing campaigns against drug abuse and illegal cultivation.
