Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on the occasion of Navreh extended greetings to the Kashmiri Pandit community, wishing them peace, prosperity and happiness. She also conveyed her best wishes to devotees marking the beginning of Navratri, expressing hope that the festivals bring positivity and spiritual strength to people across the country.
Describing Navreh as a celebration of renewal and hope rooted in Kashmir’s traditions, Mufti highlighted the Valley’s composite culture and the longstanding bonds between Kashmiri Pandits and Muslims. She said both communities have historically shared each other’s festivals, reflecting the true spirit of Kashmiriyat.
Referring to instances of communal harmony, she noted that mutual participation and support during religious occasions, including gatherings at places like Kheer Bhawani, underline the inclusive ethos of the region.
Mufti also spoke about the displacement of Kashmiri Pandits, expressing empathy over their suffering and stating that Kashmir feels incomplete without their presence. She reiterated that the community belongs to the Valley and should return with dignity and confidence.
She urged the Centre and the Jammu and Kashmir administration to take concrete measures to ensure a safe and secure environment for their return and rehabilitation.
Expressing hope, Mufti said the spirit of Navreh and Navratri should serve as a catalyst for reconciliation, healing and restoration of Kashmir’s shared cultural legacy.
