Srinagar, Mar 15: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday handed over appointment letters to 49 families of terror victims and deceased government employees at a function held at Lok Bhavan in Srinagar.
Among them, 27 Next of Kins (NoKs) of victims of terrorism received appointment letters, while 22 NoKs of deceased government employees were provided jobs under the Jammu and Kashmir Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme–2022 and SRO-43.
Reiterating the administration’s commitment to justice for families affected by terrorism, the Lieutenant Governor said that pending cases related to terror victims would be reopened to ensure accountability of perpetrators.
Paying tribute to civilians killed in terror incidents, Sinha said that for years many families who lost their loved ones to terrorism had been waiting for justice and support. He added that a campaign launched from Baramulla last year had provided these families with renewed hope and confidence.
“Nearly 400 Next of Kins have already been provided employment and the effort will continue until every eligible family receives justice,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor said the initiative was not merely an administrative exercise but a commitment to ensure that families affected by terrorism do not remain neglected. “These appointment letters represent true justice and today’s event stands as testimony to that commitment,” he added.
Referring to initiatives taken in recent years, Sinha said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several steps have been undertaken to build a Jammu and Kashmir rooted in social justice, dignity and equal opportunity.
The Lieutenant Governor also directed the Principal Secretary Home to conduct a detailed review of cases related to property encroachment belonging to terror victims, stating that properties forcibly occupied would be restored to the rightful families after due investigation.
He further said that the administration is preparing a comprehensive rehabilitation framework for victims of terrorism who have suffered severe disabilities or loss of eyesight.
The Lieutenant Governor urged citizens to maintain unity and remain vigilant against divisive forces. Reaffirming the government’s policy of “zero tolerance towards terrorism,” he said security agencies are taking decisive steps to dismantle terror networks in the Union Territory.
