Police take action against hoax caller for misusing Dial 112 in Ganderbal

“Further enquiry brought to light that the caller, Parvaiz Ahmad Saeed S/O Gh Ahmad Saeed R/O Narayanbagh, is a habitual offender who has repeatedly made fake distress calls, including three false complaints during January 2026 through ERSS-112. His actions were found to be deliberate, aimed at creating unnecessary panic and diverting police attention from genuine emergencies.”

Based on the statements of his wife and other family members, and in view of his repeated misuse of emergency services, the individual has been detained by Police Post Shadipora under preventive provisions of law to safeguard the sanctity and importance of the ERSS-112 emergency response system.

“Ganderbal Police reiterates that ERSS-112 is meant strictly for genuine emergencies. Misuse of this vital service not only leads to legal consequences but also hampers timely assistance to those in real distress. Citizens are urged to act responsibly and cooperate with law enforcement agencies in maintaining public safety.”
