Ganderbal, Dec 26, KDC: In a major success, the Ganderbal police has traced and recovered 46 missing mobile phones valued at lakhs of rupees from various locations across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

Over the past four months, the Cyber Police Station Ganderbal received multiple complaints from the general public through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) Portal and other police units regarding lost or missing mobile phones. Acting swiftly on these complaints and following the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, Khalil Ahmad Poswal, special teams comprising cyber and field experts were constituted to track the devices using advanced technical and ground-based efforts.

After sustained operations, the teams successfully recovered 46 mobile phones from different parts of J&K. The recovered devices were formally handed over to their rightful owners today by SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal, in the presence of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy.SP) Headquarters Ganderbal, after completion of all legal formalities and procedures.

Police officials stated that the achievement underscores the dedication of Ganderbal Police in addressing public grievances and tackling cyber-assisted crimes through effective technological intervention and coordinated policing.

On the occasion, the Cyber Police Station Ganderbal urged citizens to remain vigilant while using mobile phones and other electronic gadgets to prevent cyber fraud and digital crimes. The public was advised to report any cybercrime or online fraud immediately on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal or approach the Cyber Police Station Ganderbal without delay.

SSP Ganderbal reaffirmed the force’s commitment to ensuring cyber safety and protecting the digital interests of the public, emphasizing that the police will continue to leverage modern tools to enhance public service and cyber security. (KDC)
