Baramulla, Dec 25 (KDC): A one-week bootcamp on “Next-Generation Security Challenges in Distributed Wireless Ecosystems”, sponsored by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), concluded successfully at Government Degree College (Autonomous), Baramulla.

The MeitY-sponsored programme was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), GDC Baramulla, in collaboration with NIELIT Srinagar, under the ISEA Project Phase–III, the college said in a statement to news agency Kashmir Dot Com.

The final day began with remarks by Dr. Syed Mutahhar Aaqib, Coordinator, IQAC, who welcomed participants and reflected on the learning outcomes of the bootcamp.

A major technical session was led by Aqeel Ajaz Malik, Project Associate, NIELIT Srinagar, who delivered a hands-on cybersecurity training using Kali Linux, covering ethical hacking, credential harvesting in a controlled environment, antivirus behaviour, Wi-Fi security, MAC binding and wireless attack prevention.

Another practical session was conducted by Irshad Ahmad, Resource Faculty, NIELIT, where participants worked on Arduino-based IoT kits, successfully implementing an LED sensor project, strengthening hardware–software integration skills.

The valedictory session, anchored by BCA student Nausheen Lone, featured participant feedback appreciating the programme’s academic depth and practical orientation.

Dr. Zahid Hussain Najar lauded IQAC’s efforts and expressed satisfaction with the bootcamp’s quality based on direct participant feedback.

Aqeel Malik encouraged students to continue exploring cybersecurity and IoT domains, while Staff Secretary Prof. Tariq Ahmad Chalkoo commended student participation despite harsh weather and urged more technical interaction and questioning in future programmes.

Resource persons were honoured with mementos and certificates, while the student organizing team including Naieem Qureshi, Owais Sofi, Mohammad Toiyib, Affan Shafiq and Muzammil Maqbool, among others, were also felicitated for academic and logistical support.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Aaqib, who expressed gratitude to the college Principal Professor Mohammad Shafi Lone for institutional support and encouragement.

He also thanked Principal Investigator ISEA Project Ajaz Ahmad Kumar, and NIELIT In-Charge Director Ashiq Hussain Dar, along with faculty members, volunteers and media for collaborative support.

The bootcamp ended on a positive note, equipping students with practical exposure, confidence and awareness of next-generation security challenges in distributed wireless ecosystems. (KDC)
