Jammu, Dec 03, KDC: The School Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday issued a major administrative reshuffle, assigning look-after charge of Principals to more than a hundred Senior Lecturers and ordering the transfer of nearly as many serving Principals across the Union Territory. The comprehensive order, issued through Government Order No. 694-JK (Edu) of 2025, affects government higher secondary institutions in almost every district of Jammu, Kashmir and parts of Chenab Valley.
According to the department, the look-after assignments have been made pending clearance by the Departmental Promotion Committee and the Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission. The temporary arrangement places Senior Lecturers in charge of Higher Secondary Schools until regular placements are made. Over 130 Senior Lecturers have been repositioned under this arrangement, with postings spanning Kathua, Jammu, Udhampur, Rajouri, Poonch, Baramulla, Kupwara, Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian, Bandipora, Budgam, Ganderbal, Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban, reported news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC).
In addition to the look-after appointments, the order also lists transfers of around 90 serving Principals, who have been shifted to new institutions with immediate effect. These include postings to district education offices, DIET centres, newly designated higher secondary schools and other administrative units. The department has clarified that all Principals and look-after Principals mentioned in the order are “deemed relieved” from their existing stations and must join their new assignments without delay.
