New Delhi, Dec 02, KDC: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary has moved the Delhi High Court seeking removal of viral social media videos that allegedly feature him in a phone conversation with a woman carrying what he has described as “sexual undertones.”
The petition came up for hearing before Justice Amit Bansal, who according to news agency Kashmir Dot Com, directed social media intermediaries Google and Meta to provide details of the Facebook pages and YouTube channels that uploaded the impugned content. The court further asked Choudhary to implead the original uploaders as parties to the suit.
During the brief hearing, the bench noted that the defamation petition did not contain transcripts or copies of the allegedly defamatory videos. The court instructed the Deputy Chief Minister to place the material on record and submit it in digital form.
“You file a pen drive containing the video,” the judge observed, while listing the matter for further hearing on January 13.
The court said it would consider Choudhary’s plea for interim relief after examining the content in question.
Choudhary, a senior leader of the National Conference, represents the Nowshera constituency and was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister of the Union Territory on October 16, 2024, following his victory in the 2024 Assembly election. (KDC)
