Baramulla, November 13, KDC: In a major security initiative, Baramulla Police have intensified preventive operations across the district aimed at dismantling terror networks and strengthening internal security.
According to officials, on November 12, all formations of District Police Baramulla carried out a series of coordinated operations to neutralize subversive elements and maintain public order.
During the district-wide action, six individuals with links to subversive networks were detained and bound down under law. Searches were conducted at 22 properties associated with overground workers (OGWs), resulting in 20 OGWs being bound down and two sent to jail under preventive detention.
Police also examined two individuals previously booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) who are currently on bail; one of them was bound down under preventive law. Eight bailed UAPA-accused have been identified for bail cancellation, with two cases already submitted before the competent court.
In addition, 16 cordon and search operations (CASOs) were conducted at various locations, and 292 vehicles were thoroughly checked at multiple checkpoints across the district. Police teams also searched five individuals linked with E&IMCO and two affiliates of Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) to ensure compliance with the law. Two absconding UAPA-accused were traced and legal proceedings have been initiated against them.
A police spokesperson said the coordinated operations were aimed at preempting potential security threats, curbing subversive activity, and maintaining peace and stability in the region.
“Baramulla Police remain steadfast in their commitment to continue such preventive actions to ensure lasting stability, security, and harmony across the district,” the spokesperson added. (KDC)
