Srinagar, Nov 9, KDC: The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday carried out raids at multiple locations across the Valley in connection with the alleged misuse of social media platforms for anti-national activities.
Official sources said simultaneous searches were conducted in Srinagar, Pulwama, Shopian, Baramulla, and Kulgam districts. Several residential premises were searched, and digital gadgets, including mobile phones and laptops, were seized for forensic analysis.
The raids were carried out with the assistance of local police units. While some individuals were reportedly detained for questioning, official confirmation was awaited.
The operation follows a major crackdown launched a day earlier against overground workers aiding terror handlers based in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Meanwhile, similar anti-terror operations were also underway across Jammu region, including Ramban, Kathua, Rajouri, and Doda districts. Police said the searches targeted the networks of local terrorists operating from across the border and their overground supporters.
A police spokesperson said coordinated cordon and search operations were conducted in Ramban district under the supervision of SSP Arun Gupta to verify the antecedents of suspected individuals and strengthen security in vulnerable areas.
Joint teams of Police, Army, CRPF, and SOG, along with magistrates, inspected multiple premises linked to relatives and associates of terrorists to ensure no unlawful activities were taking place.
Police said such intelligence-based preventive operations are part of ongoing efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region. The public has been urged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any suspicious activity, with the assurance that informants’ identities will be kept confidential. (KDC)
