Srinagar, Nov 2: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will today chair a high-level meeting to review the overall security and developmental scenario in the Kashmir division, official sources said.
The meeting, scheduled to be held in Srinagar, will be attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat, Home Secretary Chandraker Bharti, and top civil and police officials, including Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg, ADGP (CID) Nitish Kumar, Special DGP Coordination Syed Javaid Mujtaba Gillani, and all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) of Kashmir districts.
According to officials, the security review will focus on the prevailing situation in the Valley, the status of anti-terror operations, and measures being taken to dismantle the remaining terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir. DGP Nalin Prabhat is expected to brief the LG on recent counter-terror operations, infiltration attempts, and intelligence assessments.
A key part of today’s meeting will also focus on winter preparedness — reviewing district-level readiness for snow clearance, power supply maintenance, rescue protocols, and essential service continuity during harsh weather.
“The violence has come down, and efforts are underway to target the remnants of the terror ecosystem in J&K. The winter strategy to tackle terror will also be discussed, along with steps to address civilian challenges during snowfall,” a senior security official said.
Officials said the LG will also review the progress of ongoing developmental projects across the Valley, particularly those linked to infrastructure, connectivity, and public welfare. The administration aims to ensure that the twin objectives of growth and stability are advanced in tandem.
Each DC and SSP will present a district-specific report highlighting local development progress, security coordination, intelligence efforts, and preparedness for potential weather disruptions.
Top officials said that during winter, the administration faces dual challenges — heightened infiltration risks through snowbound routes and potential disruptions to civic infrastructure caused by heavy snowfall.
The Lieutenant Governor is expected to issue directions for enhanced coordination between the civil administration, police, and security agencies to ensure that both peace and development continue uninterrupted through the winter months. (KDC)
