Srinagar, July 16: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Wednesday forecast widespread rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir from July 16 to 23, warning of potential flash floods, landslides, and shooting stones in vulnerable areas.
According to the MeT Centre, intermittent spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected across many parts of the Union Territory during this period. Between July 18 and 20, the region may witness intense showers at a few places, with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely at isolated locations. A similar pattern is forecast for July 21 to 23, with cloudy skies and intermittent rainfall across many areas.
The advisory specifically cautions that intense showers on July 16–17 and again from July 21–23 could lead to flash floods, landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones, particularly in mountainous and landslide-prone zones. The public has been urged to remain alert and follow safety guidelines.
