Srinagar, July 9: The Rajbhasha Cell of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Wednesday organized a workshop to deliberate on the Annual Programme 2025–2026 issued by the Department of Official Language and to discuss challenges and solutions related to the implementation of official language policies.

The workshop, aimed at promoting effective use of Hindi in official work, was primarily attended by ministerial staff of the institute. Mr. Prakash Chandra Mishra, Hindi Officer at MNNIT Allahabad, presided over the session as the main resource person.

In his address, Mr. Mishra elaborated on the key points of the Annual Programme 2025–2026 and discussed various issues and practical solutions related to the implementation of Hindi in central government institutions.

The workshop was primarily attended by the non-teaching ministerial staff of NIT Srinagar online and aimed at sensitizing the employees about the importance of using Hindi in official work.

In his message, Director of NIT Srinagar, Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, appreciated the efforts of Rajbhasha Cell for organizing the workshop and stated that NIT administration will continue to provide support to such programs.

Speaking on the occasion, Registrar NIT Srinagar, Prof. Atikur Rehman, lauded the efforts of the Rajbhasha Cell in consistently promoting the official language within the campus. He said Rajbhasha plays a vital role in ensuring efficient communication and inclusivity across government institutions.

Prof. Rehman encouraged the staff to actively participate in such programs and assured full administrative support in facilitating Hindi-related training and examinations. “Promoting Hindi in official work is not just a policy matter; it is a step towards cultural and administrative cohesion,” he said.

Earlier, Incharge Hindi Officer Dr. R.P. Shukla (Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering Department) briefed attendees about the various activities of the Rajbhasha Cell. He said that significant efforts have been made in recent years to promote the use of Rajbhasha (Hindi) on the campus, and that many initiatives have been successfully implemented.

Dr. Shukla also expressed his gratitude to  Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, Incharge Director Prof. Roohi Naaz, and Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman for supporting such initiatives on the campus.

Hindi Anuvadak, Dr. Sabzar Gani (Coordinator of the workshop), delivered a vote of thanks to the resource person and expressed his gratitude to the Hindi Officer, participants, coordinators, and staff members who contributed to the success of the event.

The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session, during which participants raised several practical questions about the use of Hindi in drafting official letters, note-taking and documentation processes, and how to overcome hesitation in using the language.

The resource person addressed each concern patiently and shared useful resources, techniques, and examples to encourage better and more confident usage of Hindi.

Participants lauded the initiative, describing the workshop as informative, motivating, and highly relevant to their roles. (KDC)
