Jammu, June 2 (KDC): The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has filed a chargesheet in a case related to the misappropriation of MGNREGA funds during 2012-13 and 2013-14 in Panchayat Gurekhra, Block Gandoh, District Doda.

The challan was produced before the Special Judge Anti-Corruption Doda in FIR No. 25/2015 PS VOJ (now ACB), under sections of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act and Ranbir Penal Code. The accused include Hukum Singh (then AEE, REW Bhaderwah), Barkat Ali (then Naib Sarpanch), Kartar Singh (then Secretary Panchayat), Mohd Aslam (then Technical Assistant), and Choudhary Ikhlaq Ahmed (then GRS).

The investigation revealed that payments were fraudulently made for unexecuted or partially executed works. Funds were released to ineligible beneficiaries, including government employees and financially sound individuals. Cases of manipulation in muster rolls, duplicate entries, and overstated labour days were also found.

The ACB said the accused diverted works from sanctioned sites and recorded false measurements to embezzle government funds meant for rural employment under MGNREGA. The case is under trial. (KDC)
