Srinagar, Apr 29 (KDC): The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Srinagar Bench, on Tuesday strongly refuted claims circulating on social media suggesting that it had issued a stern warning to the Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, and Assembly Secretary Manoj Kumar Pandit, in connection with an ongoing contempt petition.
In an official statement to Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com, the Tribunal clarified that a Contempt Petition (No. 225 of 2024) is indeed pending before the CAT Srinagar Bench and was listed for hearing on April 28, 2025. However, no such order as claimed in the viral social media message has been passed.
“The message circulating on social media alleging a warning from this Tribunal to the Speaker and Secretary of the J&K Assembly is false, malicious, and entirely baseless,” head of Officer, CAT, Sudhir Kumar Jha said, adding that the Tribunal completely refutes the content of the message.
Officials urged the public not to be misled by unverified content on social platforms and emphasized that only orders officially issued by the Tribunal should be considered authentic. (KDC)
