ANANTNAG, MARCH 08: The 50th International Women’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor across Anantnag, with various events organized to honor and recognize the achievements of women in different fields.

The celebrations aimed to highlight the contributions of women in shaping a progressive society and to promote gender equality.

Social Welfare Department hosted a grand function at Town Hall Anantnag, with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, SF Hamid, as the chief guest.

In his address, DC praised the remarkable contributions of women across various sectors, acknowledging their dedication and resilience. “Women today are excelling in every sphere of life, working shoulder to shoulder with men and proving their mettle in diverse fields,” he stated.

On this occasion, distinguished women from different domains were felicitated for their outstanding achievements.

In another significant event, the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), in collaboration with the district administration, organized a function at Dak Bunglow Khanabal. The event witnessed the participation of women from the Social Welfare and Education Departments, female members of Pani Samitis, and staff from JJM.

Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Anantnag, Sheikh Abdul Aziz, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the crucial role of women in nation-building. He underscored the importance of initiatives like JJM in empowering women by ensuring access to safe drinking water, particularly in remote areas.

He stated, “Empowering women through such initiatives not only improves their quality of life but also strengthens the foundation of a developed society.”

The events also included insightful discussions, cultural performances, and inspiring speeches by women from diverse professional backgrounds. Several women shared their perspectives on the significance of International Women’s Day and the progress women have made in different spheres.

The celebrations were attended by key officials, including the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Anantnag, District Social Welfare Officer Anantnag, District Youth Services & Sports (DYSS) Officer Anantnag, and Executive Engineers from PHE Divisions of Bijbehara and Qazigund, alongside the Project Manager JJM Anantnag.
