Srinagar, Feb 21: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) J&K UT Council hosted its Annual Session for 2025-26, themed “Aspiring for New Growth Goals,” focusing on economic prosperity and sustainable development in the region.
In a statement, CII J&K highlighted the participation of key dignitaries, including J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah as the Chief Guest and Satish Sharma, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science & Technology, IT, Youth Services & Sports, and ARI & Trainings Departments as the Guest of Honour.
CII J&K Chairman and Executive Director of FIL Industries Pvt. Ltd., Syed Junaid Altaf, welcomed the attendees, emphasizing the organization’s role in fostering industrial growth and the rise of the region’s startup ecosystem. Madhav Singhania, Chairman of CII Northern Region and CEO of JK Cements Ltd., highlighted J&K’s potential to become an industrial hub and proposed a task force to develop a roadmap for transforming J&K’s economy from $29 billion to $60 billion in five years.
Minister Satish Sharma called for addressing historical economic challenges and boosting sports, healthcare, and border tourism, advocating innovative marketing strategies to promote Kashmir’s hospitality sector.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah commended J&K’s resilient businesses, urging long-term sustainability strategies and external investments for job creation. He called for a genuine single-window clearance system to ease bureaucratic hurdles and encouraged industry feedback for the upcoming budget.
The session reinforced a collective vision for economic growth, industrial transformation, and investment opportunities, solidifying J&K’s position as a key business destination.
